The Foundation is the Heart of the Dental Society

The Sacramento District Dental Foundation, the charitable 501(c)3 arm of SDDS, is the “heart of the Society.” It is with much heart that our Foundation’s programs maintain, operate and give back to our community!  SDDS member dentists and other dental professionals who volunteer are the key to our programs, whether it is volunteering to treat a patient, screen kids in the schools, present oral health education programs and volunteer in many other capacities. The generosity of dentists, staff members and volunteers in the community are the key, the heart, and the success of our Foundation. While the Foundation’s goals started out serving the community through only pro-bono care and education, the Foundation has added scholarships and grants for dental school students in the hope of supporting the future of dentistry and future dentists to carry on our philosophy, generosity and “heart.”

The Foundation is funded solely through contributions, bequests, fundraising events, donation of services, planned giving and grants. Funds raised are used to aid and promote the oral and general health of the public through education, service and treatment in the fields of preventative and curative dentistry as well as to provide scholarships and grants.

Celebrate with Us

May is Foundation month! This is the time of year when we celebrate all the good that the SDDS Foundation has done and is doing in our community. The May/June Nugget always has the Foundation Annual Report in it and we try to fill it with all the warm and fuzzy stories that tug at our hearts. We love hearing and sharing what our members are doing, especially when it involves the betterment of our community. Join us as we celebrate all the good that our members do and support the Foundation this month and every month!

If you have a story you’d like to share with us, please send it and some photos to sdds@sdds.org. We’d love to hear all the good things you’re doing in the community and spread the word in our Nugget publication, on our social media or both!

Why Join?

Become a member of The Sacramento District Dental Foundation and join your colleagues and community members in supporting this worthwhile charitable organization. Since its inception, Foundation and SDDS members have been our community’s greatest resource in bettering the oral health of our community. As a member of the Foundation, you help maintain and grow the Foundation’s charitable projects and goals, such as Smiles for Kids and Smiles for Big Kids, which provides dental services to thousands of children and adults in need.

Who is Eligible?

Every individual, whether affiliated with the dental field or not, is eligible to join the Foundation.
