This course will discuss multiple forensic cases from the coroner’s office. It will be shown how the identifications were made through dental records. The need for keeping accurate dental records will be made apparent. The presentation will culminate by answering the question of why this work is vital to the coroner’s office and the families involved.

Mark D. Porco, DDS

Until recently Dr. Porco practiced general dentistry for 29 years in Lincoln, California. He now is on faculty at Carrington College’s Dental Hygiene program and California Northstate University’s College of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Currently, Dr. Porco also serves as the Forensic Odontologist for Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties.
