Registration cost details: $59 early (ends 2/27) / $79 regular (begins 2/28)

What is the new Preceptorship for Dental Assisting and your involvement as a Preceptor?
Effective July 1, 2025, the increased methods or pathways to licensure will be greater than ever, with one of the most progressive being the formalization of an apprenticeship. With your unlicensed dental assistant as Preceptee and yourself as the DDS employer being the Preceptor, this course will serve to better understand the completion requirements as well as the obligations of both the dentist and the assistant.

Join Ms. Drury-Klein for this 1.5-hour review of the new pathway and gain the knowledge you need to support your team’s professional growth!

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the new preceptorship pathway
  • Define the roles and responsibilities for the DDS and the assistant
  • Outline the completion requirements
  • Review compliance with regulatory standards

LaDonna Drury–Klein, RDA, CDA, BS; The Foundation for Allied Dental Education (SDDS Vendor Member)

Ms. LaDonna Drury-Klein completed her dental assisting education and her national dental assisting board examinations just as California established the RDA license. During her 18 years as a chairside clinician, she earned degrees in biological sciences and business management before completing her teacher credentialing in higher education from UC Berkeley Extension. Ms. Klein worked for three community college-based vocational programs teaching dental sciences, began a very successful consulting firm for dental office compliance, and served as Assistant Vice President of Education for the California Dental Association, during which time she consulted and worked very closely on legislation to bring the dental assisting duties into statute.

Ms. Klein served as a two-time appointee to the Dental Board of California for Governor Gray Davis and is often called upon to assist in developing regulatory and statutory language for dental assisting-related oversight.

Ms. Klein established the Foundation for Allied Dental Education as a non-profit, public benefit entity serving to support the educational and professional development needs of all allied dental healthcare personnel. She is currently the Executive Director of the Foundation for Allied Dental Education and is the Chief Operating Officer of the FADE Institute.
